"The Obsession"
With apologies to music producer Bruce Dickinson, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is ... More Flowers. That's a lame reference to the classic Saturday Night Live "More Cowbell" sketch, but I'm on the same page as Bruce, at least when it comes to flowers.
My friends will tell you that if you go for a walk with me, be prepared for frequent stops. I've gotta stop and coo over the posies, and snap photo after photo, like a dog that can't get two feet down the road without sniffing every blade of grass in her path.
My town is filled with creative flower arrangers, shop keepers, flower farmers and commercial landscapers who keep our public places and spaces beautiful throughout the year. It's easy for me to get distracted by their work when I'm running errands. I can't tell you how many times I've reached for my iPhone to capture something beautiful coming into view as I pull into a parking space, like the overflowing container garden in front of Mother Ocean Seafood Market in north Asheville. Feast your eyes on these beauties...
Clockwise top left to right: Container garden in front of Mother Ocean Seafood Market; Me and my clogs loving on gerbera daisies at a local market; Feverfew and friends at the Bountiful Cities Garden Tour, grown by the women farmers/owners of Petal Rows Farm in Asheville; Pansies in Kenilworth; Dreamy blossoms from Petal Rows Farms.
This is but a mere fraction of the amount of flower photos on my iPhone Photo Roll. It's a sickness, I know. Here's a screen shot of my photo roll. :)
There are worse things to obsess over than flowers and plants.
